Get the basics for the ultimate mountain ice climbing experience with Climb YEG & Girth Hitch Guiding. This full week program in Edmonton and Nordegg provide the basics for your first mountain ice climbing experience. Experience some of the best ice climbing in the world in this unique and exciting program.
Over two days at Climb YEG (Tuesday & Thursday), participants will be introduced to the core movement foundations of ice climbing. This course establishes confidence, efficiency, and safety awareness—key building blocks for all future ice climbing progression.
In the mountains (Saturday & Sunday), Girth Hitch Guiding shifts focus toward outdoor-climbing readiness, improved terrain reading, and the systems needed for top rope ice climbing. Participants will refine movement efficiency, develop stable stances for screw placement, and learn to build and evaluate natural and ice anchors.
